The National Kidney Foundation has received Joint Accreditation with Commendation, the highest level of recognition for organizations providing continuing education to healthcare professionals. The accreditation is valid for a six-year term through July 2032.
The award is granted to organizations that meet rigorous national standards while demonstrating excellence in educational quality, innovation, and measurable impact on clinical practice and patient care. This distinction recognizes the foundation’s commitment to providing evidence-based education designed to equip healthcare professionals with the skills necessary to improve outcomes for those living with kidney disease.
The Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Education recognized the foundation’s ability to engage patients as planners and teachers, ensuring that clinical expertise is complemented by lived experience. The foundation was also cited for advancing research and scholarship in accredited education and using health and practice data to inform content and planning.
Furthermore, the foundation was recognized for addressing social determinants of health that influence patient outcomes and for collaborating with other organizations to meet population health priorities. These efforts are integrated into a wide portfolio of interprofessional continuing education covering areas such as primary care, transplant, and home dialysis.
Chief Executive Officer Marc Hurlbert noted that the achievement reinforces the organization’s role as a national leader in delivering the evidence-based education required as healthcare evolves. Senior Vice President of Scientific Operations Jessica Joseph added that the recognition reflects the high standards set for education that aims to improve care delivery by involving interprofessional teams, patients, and partners.
