Entergy Corporation has signed the White House Ratepayer Protection Pledge, a federal initiative aimed at ensuring technology companies cover the infrastructure costs necessary to power data centers and advanced manufacturing facilities.
During a White House event this week, Entergy Chair and CEO Drew Marsh detailed how the company plans to support innovation and economic growth while protecting its customers from rising costs. The pledge expansion follows efforts by American electric companies to prioritize reliability and affordability for all consumers.
The event included participation from President Donald Trump, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, and Meta President and Vice Chair Dina Powell McCormick. Officials highlighted a $27 billion Meta project in Richland Parish, Louisiana, which is projected to save local residents $2.6 billion on electricity bills and provide public school teachers in the parish with bonuses of up to $50,000.
In addition to the federal commitment, Entergy introduced its Fair Share Plus pledge. Marsh indicated that this program is modeled after the White House initiative and is expected to provide roughly $7 billion in benefits to Entergy customers over the next 20 years.
The Fair Share Plus pledge includes specific measures to prevent electricity bill inflation, such as prepayment requirements, multi-year contract terms, credit and collateral mandates, and penalties for early termination. These provisions are designed to ensure that large-load projects, specifically data centers, pay the full cost of service and provide additional value to lower expenses for existing customers on the grid.
Through these combined efforts, Entergy aims to manage the energy demands of the artificial intelligence race while maintaining responsible service and economic benefits for the communities it serves.
