Barnes & Noble is set to reopen a major bookstore in Jenkintown on Wednesday, Sept. 16, marking the company’s return to the community after a nearly 14-year absence.
The new location is situated in the Noble Town Center at 905 Old York Road, occupying more than 20,000 square feet in the former Bed Bath & Beyond space. The site is located directly across the road from the retailer’s previous Jenkintown location.
The grand opening is scheduled for 9 a.m. and will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a book signing by local author K.L. Walther. Walther will be promoting her recent title, The Summer of Second Chances. The opening weekend festivities will also include storytime events featuring the character Biscuit the Dog.
The reopening is part of a broader expansion for the company. This Jenkintown location is one of 60 new Barnes & Noble stores scheduled to open in 2026, contributing to a total of 180 new store openings over the last three years. The original Jenkintown branch operated from 1993 until its closure in 2013.
To celebrate the launch, Barnes & Noble Premium and Rewards members will be eligible for double stamps on all purchases made between Sept. 16 and Sept. 20. Other grand opening deals include $50 off NOOK devices and a 40% discount on all DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD movies.
CEO James Daunt noted the importance of returning to a community where the brand has a long history, highlighting that the store will offer more than just books, including toys, games, and vinyl. Store Manager Angelica Casner said the goal is to provide a gathering place for the community to connect through local author events and book clubs.
